my bangkok tour... ( the shopping capital) Sept. 17 - 20, 2010

I'm going back here again!!! Because I only have 2 days tour in this place and I missed a lot of tourist spot there...and our priority that time is shopping... and I accompanied a old woman, kids and pregnant lady so it’s very hard for them to walk and walk and walk….what I normally in my past tour.

We arrived at Subharbhumi Airport @ 11:30 pm 3 hours away from manila with one hour time difference. The taxi fare from airport to Bangkok is 450 Bhat so I said to my colleagues we got to find out another way how to go down town to the city 450 bhat is too expensive I’m the treasurer that time so I’m the one budgeting our money hehehe.
I tried to asked some people around the airport what is the other possible way going to city since it’s too late they all telling to ride at the taxi but I said it’s too expensive and I only have 250 bhat in my hand that time… one local help us to ride in bus for free; I think it’s a private shuttle he talked to driver to letting us to ride but I have no idea that time where we are going to stop so I talked to driver and I found that she will going to dropped us at the bus station. (the driver is pretty & kind)
At the bus station, we wait for a couple of minute for a bus going down to the city. There’s a lot of mosquitoes at the station and until now I had the mark of that mosquito bites. While waiting for the bus one of the van driver offer to us to ride to his van for 40 baht each person. Then we ride again at the taxi who talked by a filthai who we met at the station we did not understand what did he said to driver because their talking in thai language but since he is a half Filipino we trust him. Wow this taxi driver takes us around 5 times within the city before we found out the white palace hotel and he asking for 150 baht for that since we are metered taxi… First I don’t want to give because it’s his fault and I know it just his a trick but he is shouting us and I’m afraid so I gave him all my baht that time which is 120.00…

We Check – in as walk in at the white palace hotel so we did not get a good price for our room.  So for me I advise you guys to have an early booking online to save some money because they did not offer some discount or a little consideration for walk – in.

1st day

We availed our free buffet breakfast.

Then we proceed to our first destination to Grand palace temple.
A huge temple… we ride in tuktuk to go there for FREE coz the tuk tuk driver asked for our help to have their free gas “I hep you, you hep me” you will just said how much how much you don’t need to buy you will just look and asked how much how much… but for me it just a wasting time we spend almost our half day for his own tour hahaha…

Bangkok Wat Phra Kaew
The Emerald Buddha

Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (officially known as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram) is regarded as the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand. Located in the historic centre of Bangkok, within the grounds of the Grand Palace, it enshrines Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the highly revered Buddha image meticulously carved from a single block of jade. The Emerald Buddha (Phra Putta Maha Mani Ratana Patimakorn) is a Buddha image in the meditating position in the style of the Lanna school of the north, dating from the 15th century AD.
Raised high on a series of platforms, no one is allowed near the Buddha except HM the King. A seasonal cloak, changed three times a year to correspond to the summer, winter, and rainy season covers the statue. A very important ritual, the changing of the robes is performed only by the King to bring good fortune to the country during each season. The temple is beautifully decorated and has a great sense of peace about it.

Wat Pho in Bangkok
Temple of Reclining Buddha

Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is located behind the splendid Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It's the largest temple in Bangkok and famed for its huge and majestic reclining Buddha measured 46 metres long and covered in gold leaf. The Buddha's feet are 3 metres long and exquisitely decorated in mother-of-pearl illustrations of auspicious 'laksanas' (characteristics) of the Buddha.
I
You can also receive a blessing from a monk for a small donation which helps to maintain the 'wat' (temple). The entrance fee is 20 baht.

Location: Maharat Road. Close to the river (about a half mile south of the Grand Palace), Old City (Rattanakosin)

Bangkok Wat Traimit
Temple of Golden Buddha

Located at the end of Chinatown's Yaowarat Road, near Hualampong Railway Station, Wat Traimit houses the world's largest golden seated Buddha measuring nearly five metres in height and weighing five and a half tons. In the past, artisans crafted the Buddhas in gold and disguised them from invading armies by a covering of stucco and plaster.
The Buddha at Wat Traimit was discovered by accident when it was accidentally dropped as it was being moved, revealing, under a casing of plaster, a beautiful solid gold Sukhothai style Buddha. Pieces of the plaster are still kept on display.

Opening Hours: 09:00 - 17:00
Location: Traimit Road (west of Hua Lampong Station), Chinatown

The hostage drama scene yesterday in tourist bus by a dismissed police name Captain Rolando Mendoza affects the tourism in our country.

It’s ashamed how poor of cops/government we had they let the hostage hurt and died.

Black advisory Hong Kong issued the Black Outbound Travel Alert for the Philippines. The black alert is the highest level of Hong Kong's three-sign Outbound Travel Alert system, indicating a “severe threat” exists and all travel to the destination should be avoided. first time???

I want to share my first international tour all by my self…

I was so nervous that time….Ha-ha-ha it’s so funny because I felt witless don’t know what to do since it's my first time to go out of the country and I’m alone.
(lakasan lang ng loob)

“Funniest thing happened to me & important things to know”

1st you should pay international tax

When I’m in the travel tax counter I gave only 200 pesos that’s what I heard; so the personnel repeat it loudly P1200.00 (it’s my first time so I don’t had any Idea.) So I just smile and gave my Php 1500.00.

2nd I skip at the Immigration Officer and go directly at the x-ray machine good thing I asked the security guard if I taking the right direction. So he directed me to go back at the Immigration counter.

3rd You should fill up the card/paper that given before you enter at the check – in counter by an airline personnel. You must present it to the immigration officer and they not allow writing at the front of their window.

I thought it’s just a promotional card so I ignored it,

And when I’m in the front of the Immigration Officer his looking for my departure card I’m wondering what his talking to; so I ask him what is that sir??? He said that the paper given by airline personnel, so I gave him what I got… he told me to fill it up and he said that the man before I is a Chinese businessman and he is rich but he do fill up the form. (In short why I cannot do it if the rich can do amp… L  may ganon...) When I’m acting to fill it up in the front of him he said “no go back there” it’s prohibited to write here.

4th always bring your own pen no free pen in the airport and you will need it also inside the plane,

You will need a black pen to fill up a departure card at the airport from one of the airline personnel and arrival card inside the plane.

Luckily, I always encounter a Good Samaritan who let me to borrow their pen.

5th when you going back to Philippines make sure your arrival card is attached in your passport or it ready in your hand coz you will need to surrender it in the departure immigration officer.

Good thing I kept mine and didn’t throw it away in a garbage can. First I thought he asked for a new one so I gave the clear one. He looked complaining and wants to say “this is not what I’m looking for”. So I said “oh the used one” the one I present when I arrive here??? He answered me politely “yes” with smile. But it is inside my bag so I need to find it thanks God the Chinese immigration officer is kind and he let me to takes time to find it.

Built from 1582 to 1602 by the Jesuits, the cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia at the time, and the royalty of Europe vied with each other to bestow upon the cathedral the best gifts. With the decline in importance of Macau, which was overtaken as the main port for the Pearl River Delta by Hong Kong, the cathedral's fortunes similarly ebbed, and it was destroyed by a fire during a typhoon in 1835.

2. Senado Square (aka San Ma Lo)

An observation deck with panoramic views, restaurants, theaters, shopping malls and the Skywalk X, a thrilling walking tour around the outer rim. It offers the best view of Macau and in recent years has been used for a variety of adventurous activities. 6. Lighthouse/Guia Fortress
Built on the highest point of Macau between 1637 and 1638, the fortress contains a chapel and a lighthouse. The chapel inside is in the style of Portuguese heritages of the 17th century.
To the right of this chapel is a bell which was made in 1707. The lighthouse, which is the dominating feature of the Fort, was built by a local-born Portuguese. It was first lit up on September 24, 1865, and is the oldest on the China coast. Standing only 16 feet tall, its beam can be seen from 20 miles at sea under good weather conditions. To this day, it provides a guiding beacon to the passing boats.

the Guia Fortress (Portuguese: Fortaleza da Guia; Chinese:) is a historical military fort, chapel, and lighthouse complex in the St. Lazarus Parish of the former Portuguese colony of Macau, in China.
The fort and chapel were constructed between 1622 and 1638, after an unsuccessful attempt by the Netherlands to capture Macau from Portugal. The lighthouse was constructed between 1864 and 1865, the first western style lighthouse in east Asia or on the China coast. The lighthouse stands at 91 meters tall, and has a light visible for some 20 miles in clear weather conditions. The complex was built upon the highest point on Macau, Guia Hill, and named after the same location.

7. Ama Temple (I felt regret for not visiting this)
The A-Ma Temple, located in the southeast of the Macau Peninsula, is the oldest temple in Macau. It was constructed in the year of 1488 of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to commemorate Mazu, the sacred sea goddess who blesses the fishermen of Macau. It is said that the goddess was called Lin Mo, and that she was born in Putian City, Fujian Province, and was more intelligent than other children her age. She could predict good or ill luck and after her death she often helped merchants and fishermen ward off calamities and turn danger into safety. Now there are a number of folktales about the great goddess narrated in the littoral lands.
8. Museums (Macau Museum, Grand Prix Museum, Wine Museum)
take a cat walk from ruins of st. paul

9. Monte Fort
The Fortress was built in the 16th century for protecting the properties of Jesuit in Macau. Later it was seized by the Governor, for the defense of Macau. Within the interior of the fortress, you can see the Museum of Macau which was built on the hill in the 1990s. The museum presents the history of the city and territory of the former Portuguese colony of Macau.

10. Bridges of Macau, especially at night

Thanks Sebastien for asking me to join you in your Coloane and Taipa tour. So I had a chanced to see it. If you didn’t ask me I cannot be able to go there…
Hac Sa Beach – black sand bay

It is on the southeast side of Coloane. However to prevent the beach from disappearing d
ue to erosion, the government “refilled” the beach with yellow sand.

Coloane's A-Ma Cultural Village(devoted to Macau's most revered fisherman goddess), St. Francis Xavier Chapel (a beautiful little chapel set in a square in Coloane V
illage) and Lord Stow's Bakery(home of Macau's most famous egg tarts).
Over on Taipa, you will have a chance to step into the former residences of wealthy Macanese families. These residences have been remodelled into Taipa Houses Museum, and from there you can walk over and explore the Old Village of Taipa full of colorful restaurants and plenty of souvenirs to bring home. On Mondays, the Taipa Houses Museum is closed. In place of the Museum, you will have an opportunity to visit the nearby Lady of Carmel Church and garden.
